The Chinese Ambassador to Peru recently indicated hat many Chinese businessmen are waiting for he application of the Free Trade Agreement between Chin and Peru to enter into action so as to invest. “The Chinese investors are not only interested in mining, petrol and other raw materials in Peru, but also see gat potential in agriculture and services as well as in THE AREA OF FORSTRY”. The Peruvian Vice-Minister of Commerce, Eduardo Ferreyros had mentioned that the agreement with this Asian giant would enter into action in he first days of February. Obviously the Chinese investors are not interested in areas of 500 or even 5,000 hectars for logging and environmental services. So the writing is on the wall – another threat to the Peruvian Forests and to their sustainable management. |
